My

Bat Mitzvah Project

Helping Animals in Need

For my Bat Mitzvah project, I will be raising funds for the Homeward Trails Animal Shelter in Fairfax, VA. I chose this shelter to support because it is where we got my dog, Hedwig. If you have ever met my dog, you know that she is very sweet.

When we brought Hedwig home from the shelter though, she was scared and hungry after being abandoned. Lots of Homeward Trails' animals are like this. They want to take in as many dogs and cats as they can and make sure that they can find safe and caring owners for them. Homeward Trails has shelters all across the East Coast, but this is not the only place they get their animals from. They bring in pets that were caught in natural disasters from as far away as Puerto Rico. They need all the funding they can get to be able to take care of these animals and find them forever homes.

2-Part Project

To get them the money that they need, there are two parts to my project, a picture contest and a fundraiser!

This is an interactive piece that everyone can engage in. Think of an animal in your life. It could be your pet, a neighbors pet, or a wild critter like a bird or a fox. Snap a cute picture of it and send it to me at sophief2776@gmail.com. You can send the picture to me anytime until May 15th. When I get the photos, I will sort them into categories like dogs, cats, etc., and will pick my favorite in each one. Stay alert for an email announcing the winners!

Please contribute to my Gofundme, with all the proceeds going to Homeward Trails Animal Shelter. You can find it here. I ask that you please donate so we can take care of animals like Hedwig.
